Workshop tunes and songs
At this year’s KlezNorth, we are working with three core tunes (Shabes in feld, Ikh benk aheym, Ekhod mi yoydea), which we will all (instrumentalists, singers and dancers) learn and explore together. The other two tunes (Vizhnitser tants and Bapolyer Freylekhs) are additional repertoire for the instrumental classes.
If you want to prepare beforehand, the most important thing is to listen to the recordings to familiarise yourselves with the tunes. It would also be beneficial to listen to the recordings while reading the lyrics. There are also read me firsts pdfs, which everyone should read for the tunes relevant to them.
In general, we plan to teach and learn these tunes together by ear, but you are welcome to print the sheet music and bring it with you (Please note that there are no printing facilities at KlezNorth). We don’t expect participants to memorise the lyrics, so please print them and bring them with you.
